This course module presents principles, systems, and best practices for pallet storage and handling. Pallet handling systems include pallet stacking systems (floor storage, block stacking, pallet stacking frames), static racking systems (single deep rack, double deep rack, drive in rack, cantilever rack), and dynamic racking systems (push back rack, pallet flow rack, and mobile pallet rack). Pallet handling systems include conventional vehicles (walkie stackers, counterbalance lift trucks), narrow aisle vehicles (straddle trucks, sideloader trucks), very narrow aisle vehicles (turrent trucks, hybrid vehicles), and automated vehicles (automated storage/retrieval systems, automated guided storage vehicles). A methodology for pallet storage and handling systems optimization and related exercises is also included.
